Using Gentleness With Others

We all know people around us who live in the shadow of sin on a daily basis. They are so deep in their transgression that they can see out. What are we to do? Well, if you look at the first part of Galatians chapter 6, you'll find some clues.

First, don't be silently judgmental or look the other way. We are to take action and restore that person. We are asked to do it only one way, with gentleness.

Gentleness is actually one of the fruit of the spirit that we learn about later in Galatians. Be gentle with your words and actions, not harsh or condescending. It's amazing how every human responds to gentleness. They are more likely to put down their guard and listen. Remember back to when you were a child, you likely had a relative who treated you with gentleness. Remember how you would respond to that person and respect that person much more than a relative that was always yelling and harshly telling you what to do?

There is also a warning next in the passage. It tells us to be on our guard and not to get sucked into their transgressions. A person captured in ongoing sin loves company. Loves to validate their sinful behavior by having others participate with them. So we must be careful and in prayer when we approach and interact with them.

Pray about who you know who needs you, a spiritual person, to gently restore them away from their sinfulness. Then pray for wisdom and the opportunity to engage with them.

Galatians 6:1-2 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

And The Truth Shall Set You Free

We've all heard this phrase said in some context or another. Maybe in a movie or someone we know uses it as a cliché. But have you ever taken the time to learn more about where it came from and what context it was said in?

Jesus said these words in John chapter 8. He actually said them to a group of Jewish people that were new believers in Him as the Messiah. It ...came just after He was telling the Pharisees that He was the Light of the World. So you could only imagine that there was doubt and tension as part of this conversation. I love how Jesus handles the situation with the new believers.

Jesus told these new believers that if they were to abide in His word and hold to His teachings, then they will know the truth, and this truth (that He is the Messiah, forgiver of sins and the pathway to the Father) will set them free.

Well, their response was genuine. They told Jesus that they were not currently in bondage or a slave to anyone, what did they need to be set free from? Jesus clearly told them that their sin was their master and they, in fact, where a slave to their sin. Just as you and I are, our sins can keep us enslaved from reaching our full potential and the blessings that God has for us. We need freedom from our sin. Jesus provides us this opportunity.

What ongoing sin do you have? Imagine if you had a way to be free from that bondage. You need the truth to be set free. The truth is that Jesus is our savior. Here is the truth about Jesus as best as I can provide: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Then the Word became flesh through the birth and ministry of Jesus. Who willingly died on the cross for our sins (to set us free), rose from the dead and today sits at the right hand of God Almighty. He will return to this earth one day. He is the only way to God our Father in Heaven.

If you want to be set free, then you need to seek the truth, which is Christ Jesus.

John 8:31-36
31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 33 They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Today's Prayer 1/24/13

Our Father in Heaven, your name mean protection, provider, salvation and awesome. Today, enforce your will upon our nation and our leaders. For it is you who gives them power.

Father, today I pray for my family who is facing a tough battle. Be with them, strengthen the generations and allow a miracle to be performed in front of them with your grace and mercy. You are in control and today we need ...for you to be in control. The fate of a family member is in your almighty hands.

Lord, let me focus on what I need to do today to glorify you. Allow me to remain peaceful and diligent to your purpose for my life. Keep me in the path that is narrow and protect my steps. Lord, go before me and prepare my way.

God, your gift of my eternal salvation should be all that I need, yet you amaze me with your divine love and steadfastness. You are unshakeable and I am not. Give me your strength today.

Thank you for my many blessings. Let my work glorify you. Guide my thoughts and my hands so I am a pure reflection of your word. Forgive me of my sins and thank you for residing in me with your Holy Spirit. I am forever grateful that you are my Father and that Jesus is my one and only savior, Amen.

Selah: Pause and Think of That

Yes, we may be at the edge of a fiscal cliff which is the result of the works of mankind, but fear not, the spiritual cliff is avoided for that is the works of our Heavenly Father. Our almighty God is JEHOVAH-ROHI, the Lord our shepherd.

Consider Psalm 62:5-8 - My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.... On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Notice this passage ends with Selah, which in Hebrew means "pause and think of that." Today, I will greatly encourage you to do just that.

Today's Prayer 1/23/13

Dear Lord, I come before you today as a little child, reaching up to you and calling out to you as my Father. Lord, reach down and embrace me today. You are the Holy one who loves me and provides for me.

I pray today for your will on my life and my family. Your plan is perfect and your timing is just. Give me patience and a spirit of joy as I stay obedient to your word.

Give me today exactly what I need. Provide me abundantly with the things I need emotionally, physically, financially and spiritually. You are JEHOVAH-JIREH, the Lord our provider.

Forgive me of my sins and my sinful nature. Help me understand that I too need to forgive those who have wronged me. Thank you for Jesus who brings me blameless unto you.

Protect me today and my family today both physically and spiritually. Lead me not into temptation, but protect my path. You are the Almighty God, creator of the universe and you knew me and formed me in my mother's womb. I am so grateful for your love. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Giving God Control

Want to live a life more obedient and honorable to God? Consider confessing to Him that you need Him in every aspect of your life. Whether it's parenting, your job, your marriage, an addiction, your health, your neighbors or anything that you do or are involved with, confess you need to give control to God. Even if it's something that you think you are very good at or successful with, give God control.

Start by praying and confessing "God, I need your help with _________ or God, please take control of _________". Take the thing you struggle with the most AND the thing in which you are the best at and give them both to Him.

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Hidden Addiction

Someone needs to hear this today: There is a hidden addiction that has control of your life. Now is the time to move away from it. It is holding back the true blessing that God has waiting for you. Pray that the sins of the flesh are diverted and that you allow the Holy Spirit that lives inside of you to prevail everyday. Be strong and seek help if needed. You can do it through Christ who strengthens you.

James 1:21 - Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

Today's Prayer 1/22/13

Our most wonderful and glorious Father in Heaven, creator of the universe, the Alpha and the Omega, the Prince of Peace. Thank you for another day here on earth to glorify and exalt you as the Lord and savior of this world. It is such a privilege to worship you, praise you and to share you with others.

Father, today I pray for healing. You are JEHOVAH-RAPHA, the Lord our healer. Father you know t...he needs of my family as they battle the physical deterioration of their earthly bodies. Bless them Lord and start the healing process for them. Father, I also bring to your healing throne today all those who read these words. Heal their sicknesses, both physically and emotionally.

Today I rejoice in your gracious giving of my needs. Thank you for protecting my family today. Give me strength to support my family both in the times that they need me as well in the times that you need me to.

I am so honored to wear the badge of Jesus. The more I learn about His time here on earth, the more it shakes me at my foundation of the amazing Lord that I worship. Forgive me of my transgressions and for falling short of your glory. Give me the strength and courage to bring your name glory everyday.

This earth shall pass. My possessions will fade away. Moths will eat them and rust will corrode them. The only two things that are eternal is your Holy word and the spirits of those that know Jesus. Give me a divine perspective of your will for my life. Help me to run the race without getting tired.

Thank you for the favor that you share upon my life. Let me enrich others with your word and with the knowledge of the TRUTH. There is no God but you. There is only one way to you which is through Jesus. Amen.

Youth Leaders

I just want to pause for a minute and give a huge shout-out, amen and hallelujah to any of our Fans who have or are currently serving our youth and children. To anyone who's taught a Sunday School class, works in the kid's ministry at church or is a Youth Pastor... a sincere thank you.

There was a special place in the heart of Jesus for children: Mark 10:14 says But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.

So Fans, say a special thank you to those in your community and church who lead and care for our children. For they are tomorrows leaders. Our future Pastors, Ministers, Teachers, Lawyers, Judges, CEO's, Husbands, Wives, Fathers, Mothers, Governors, and Unites States Presidents are among us right now.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Today's Prayer 1/21/13

Dear Father in Heaven, your name means power, almighty, grace and mercy. My faith for victory is in the blood of Jesus. He conquered death and defeated Satan, He is my undisputed champion and forever I am grateful.

Thank you Father for another day. Give me peace and give me rest. Thank you for the freedom from my sinful nature. Allow the Holy Spirit who lives in my to convict me of my sins and give me the power to resist sin. Through this same spirit, allow me to forgive others so I may inherit your promise and blessing.

Lord, when I feel that I have been wronged and when I feel entitled, remind me that I am your child and I have put my faith into your plan. You want the best for me.

Psalm 40:5 Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.

Give me today my daily needs and forgive my sins. Protect my path and my family today. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Today's Prayer 1/19/13

Dear Heavenly Father, you are the almighty creator of the entire universe. You hung all the stars in the sky and know them all by name. You hold the entire world in the palm of your hand. You are magnificent.

Lord I pray for a strong spirit of truth. I look around me and see so much damage, hurt and crumbled lives as a result of lying and deceit. You spoke that the first piece of your Armor is the belt of truth. Father give me strength in the truth and compel my spirit to rejoice in the truth.

Give my today exactly what I need today financially, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Protect me and my family and increase the hedge of protection and direct my path.

Lord, you are so good to me. I continue to ask for your divine favor over me and my life. Help me with strength to tackle my problems and let me glorify you in me actions, thoughts and deeds.

I proclaim today that Jesus Christ is my Lord and savior. He came to earth, lived a sinless life, died for me and my sins, rose from the dead and sits right now at your right hand. He is God almighty. Amen.

Today's Prayer 1/18/13

Good morning Father! Good morning Jesus! Good morning Holy Spirit! Thank you for this glorious day. Help me to be victorious today in your name.

Lord, give me strength today to tackle my problems and provide me time to spend in fellowship with you. Let my work glorify you, even when I am by myself.

Today, keep my mind sharp and my heart focused. Cleanse my heart today and renew my spirit. Thank you for salvation.

Your name means almighty and wonderful. I am humbled by your magnificence and glory. Thank you for making me special and unique. Help me know my purpose and to fulfill it with passion.

You are my strength and wisdom so today I will fear NOTHING! In your Son's name, amen.

Dealing with Temptation

We all have weaknesses as sinners, but thankfully we have Jesus to make us pure. Next time temptation arrives, look closely for a way to avoid it. God promises us a way out, and He is always faithful to His word.

Temptation is really just the menu before the meal (sin). So as you are presented with the menu (temptation) find a way to get up from the table and leave the restaurant. Don't place an order with the waiter (satan) who presents you the menu. You'll bring glory to God when you do!

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Past Decsions

Not sure who needed to hear these words tonight. Stay faithful and have discipline. Don't return to past decisions expecting the results to be different this time.

Psalm 147:3-5 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.

Today's Prayer 1/17/13

"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."

- Jesus

In a Bad Mood?

You know it's easy to find a reason to complain or to be in a bad mood. Sometimes I'll find myself looking for a reason to have a pity party or find myself not being kind to someone because I want them to know I am mad at them.

If you're like me, then take note to what Paul outlines in the following verses. What's interesting is that there is a promise involved when we resist those actions and attitudes. Now that is something that I definitely want to be part of!

Philippians 2:14-16 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.

Be Joyful Today!

Today is a wonderful day to be joyful! We serve and are loved by an amazing God! You were made for a unique purpose, glorify and praise Him as you fulfill it.

Psalm 95:1-5 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

Today's Prayer 1/16/13

Dear Almighty God, your name means healer, redeemer and salvation. There is only one way to enter into your presence and that one way is Jesus. He is the Lamb of God and He is my savior.

Lord, today my mind immediately started with all my worries, stresses and anxieties of the day. I rebuke these thoughts because they keeps me from fellowshipping with you. Lord, you tell me that I have full authority of the evil desires of this world and today I claim that authority. Today I will turn the distractions of evil into reactions of faith.

I confess, do not know what the next several days, weeks, months or years will bring me. However, I do know who is in control and in charge of my life and my destiny and that is you alone. You are my shepherd, Jehovah-Rohi, and I am not afraid, regardless of what comes into my path.

Father, today strengthen my spirit of faith in you. I am exhausted with trying to rely on myself and the direction that I am trying to plan for my life. I claim your promise that you will go before me and prepare my place for me. I will not go in haste or like a fugitive. As I move forward with your guidance, I am confident that you are my rear guard.

Finally, thank you for your Son Jesus. It brings tears to my eyes as I picture Him willfully and courageously accepting my sin and my unrighteousness. He lifted these burdens, paid the ransom to set me free and stands at your gates with mercy and grace outstretched in His hands, waiting for me. Father God, thank you.

Today, let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be ever pleasing in your sight. May I bring glory to you, Amen.

Jesus: No Gravesite to Visit

His life is the most documented event in human history. There is no human that was been written about more than Him. He fulfilled prophesies that were written hundreds of years before He was born. There are eyewitness accounts of the miracles He performed. There are secular & archeology records of His time here on earth. The rulers and kings of His day issued decrees to have Him killed when they learned of His birth.

Yet, there is no gravesite for us to visit.

Ladies and gentleman, Jesus Christ is Lord. He rose from the dead and today sits at the right hand of God Almighty. Seek Him.

Worried Today?

What are you worried about tonight? Wish you knew what to do? Good news! Jesus gave us an answer in Matthew chapter 6.

Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Today's Prayer 1/15/13

Dear Lord in Heaven, your name means anointed, almighty and ruler. There is none like you. You are higher than any.

I want to pause for a minute today and recommit my life to you. I am here on earth for one reason and that is to glorify you. I apologize for being "to busy" or "to distracted" that I have been looking more at my life rather than working for you. I let the problems of my day become the focus of my day, and for that, I am sorry.

Give me divine strength to stay committed to your word. Provide me with faith, truth, righteousness and self control so that I can overcome my issues and resist sin. Your purpose for my life is the priority, not the earthly things that occupy my mind each day.

Lord, thank you for my salvation. Give me divine appointments to share my testimony with others who do not believe and time to fellowship with other believers. My faith and beliefs should be outward expressions, not things and thoughts that I keep to myself.

Thank you for your healing power and for my savior Jesus. Forgive my sinful actions and thoughts as I forgive others who sin against me. In Jesus name, Amen.

Authority over Satan

What aspect of your life does the devil have a hold on you? Anger, envy, lust, pride, lying, unfaithfulness, deception or something else?

Consider for a moment that this vice may be holding you back from receiving the full blessing of God. What can we do? How can you break the stronghold of the devil from your life?

Here's the good news fans: As a believer in Jesus, you have FULL authority of the devil and his schemes. See below the words of Jesus that He spoke while here on earth. Claim this verse over the area of your life that needs to be set free. You don't have to live as a slave to the devil's grip on your life, you have the authority from the creator of the universe to be set free!

Luke 10:18-20 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

Today's Prayer 1/14/13

Our Heavenly Father, your name means mercy and grace. Your name means awesome. Thank you for my life and for the opportunity to worship and praise you. I am honored to be part of your kingdom.

Father, today give me a spirit of diligence and excellence. Let my work glorify you. Whether I am at my job, with my family or by myself, let my work be a reflection of my praise to you.

Lord, I bring to ...your throne today those that are in the hospital and their families. It is a very confusing and difficult time for everyone. I pray that your presence be something that cannot be ignored and that your spirit be felt. As the family members try to make sense of the situation, Lord give them all a peaceful mind.

Father, today provide me exactly what my needs are. Remind me not to worry about tomorrow, but rather spend today focused on you and how I can glorify you. Give me a sense of pride about my life. I am a follower of Jesus and He is my savior. Let me wear that badge proudly for all to see and let my actions be a reflection of Christ's message.

Keep me and my family safe today and please forgive my sins. In your precious Son's name, Amen.

Forgiveness Through the Cross

Someone needs to hear this today.

Maybe there's hurt from the past that needs to quietly be forgiven or a grudge that needs to be lifted.

Remember, through God's love you're given a second chance everyday because of the cross, maybe you need to express the same love to a member of your family?

1 John 4:19-21 We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

Today's Prayer 1/13/13

Our Heavenly Father, thank you for another day here on earth to glorify you. You are the creator of the universe and I am so honored to have a relationship with you.

Lord, I will be faithful to you today. Even though I do not know how the outcome will come to pass, I trust in your path more than I do on my own understanding. I want to give back to you my first fruits, not just what is left over. I claim the promise you provided in Malachi 3:10-11

10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty.

Lord, give me patience and integrity with others today. Remind me that I am not above any of my friends, neighbors or even my adversaries. You ask me to be as moral and righteous as I can. When I judge others and act like I am more knowledgeable, I am really acting arrogant in your site.

Thank you for the gift of salvation and mercy. Without these, I would be unacceptable in your site. Without the blood of Jesus, I would be unacceptable in your site. Thank you for loving me enough that you gave me a way to be close to you.

Give me strength this week as I work hard on the opportunities and challenges that face me. Let me glorify you in the small things that I do as well as the big things. Please forgive me of my sins and my sinful nature. In your precious name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Today's Prayer 1/12/13

Father in Heaven, your name means perfect and divine love. Your plan for me is perfect and I thank you for shaping me in the way that you do.

Lord, I continue my prayer for my family today. Heal those that are sick and protect them as they are away from me. Give me the ability to provide guidance and wisdom to them. Strength my family to work as a united group of people to glorify you.

God, I want to claim your victory over my life. I have made my decision to trust your plan for my life and that Jesus is my savior. He conquered the grave and defeated death. Lord I ask for that same supernatural power to strengthen me and guide my path. For I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength.

Continue to reminded me of the hidden wisdom and treasures that are in your holy scripture. Give me a thirst for your word and reveal to me exactly what you want me to know. Father, I pray that you also place people in my life that can provide me insight into your message and guide my learning.

Lord, it is an honor and a privilege that you know me and want a relationship with me. You are the creator of the universe and it humbles me that you love and care for me as if I was you one and only creation. Thank you for your love.

Forgive my sins as I forgive those that come against me. Thank you for Jesus and His love for me and the sacrifice He paid for me. He is my savior and the only way to draw near to you. Amen.

Today's Prayer 1/11/13

Dear Heavenly Father, you are the full authority over all things, both seen and unseen. You are the almighty creator of the universe, there is none greater than you. Thank you for my life and for my relationship with you.

Lord, in Galatians 5:22-23 you give us the fruit of the Spirit and I bring to you today the spirit of self-control. Lord give me strength when I feel my sinful nature start to g...et out of control. Whether it is anger, envy, lust, resentment or lying, Father give me a stronger presence of this Spirit that lives inside of me. For you say earlier in the same chapter "live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature." So Father, I claim this promise upon me today.

Lord, there is so much pain and suffering around me and in the world. People are sick, homeless, lost in sin and suffering. Father, help me to give those, that I can help, exactly what they need, just as you do abundantly for me everyday. The schemes of the devil are clearly at work, so Father I pray for the shield of Faith and the breastplate of Righteous to protect me. Please increase the hedge of protection around my family as they are away from me today.

I contract with you today that there is a divine restraining order issued from heaven that the schemes of the devil cannot get near me. I claim that the devil stop damaging my personal property and coming against the things that I own. No more will he be allowed near my home, my work or my family. In the name of Jesus, dismiss him!

Father, thank you for all the promises that you reveal to me everyday through my desire to learn and incorporate you holy scripture. Help me to find more ways to share your word with others. Thank you for those that support me and who give me guidance.

Finally Father, thank you for your Son, Jesus. He took off His holy, untarnished, white robe and gently wrapped it around me, then He boldly went to suffer and pay the ultimate price to allow me to wear it forever. I am unable to communicate to you how thankful I am for that. Amen.

Blessed with Relationships

Most of us have been blessed with someone in our lives that we have a very amazing and special relationship with. For me, it is my spouse.

Take a minute today and thank God for them. Then read over Philippians 2 to reinforce how we are to be with one another.

Mention or tag that person in the comments below to let them know just how special they are to you.

Philippians 2:3-5 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Divine Restraining Order

Well, looks like the devil was not happy that I issued him a divine restraining order today from my Father in heaven. We've got a family member back in the hospital, another with a broken shoulder, another home in bed sick and one that was in a car accident today.

However, Satan's attempts are futile. He's already defeated. His last and final attempts to cause confusion and worry fall on deaf ears. Satan, you are the prince of lies and tonight the sun goes down and me and my family are all safe and we are STILL rejoicing and praising Jesus. How do you feel about that?!?

Oh, and just to rub it in a little bit... the ice maker that's been broken for a month started making ice tonight. Satan, my God has authority over EVERYTHING. Including you.

Today's Prayer 1/10/13

Father God in Heaven, your name means grace, mercy and forgiveness. Thank you so much for sending your Son to die on the cross for me. Your love is truly divine and only you are worthy of my thanksgiving and praise.

Lord, give me a sense of honor today, as I am one of your chosen. Allow me to feel anointed with your wisdom as I interact with my friends, family, neighbors and also those that come against me. Provide me courage to do the right things and the knowledge to see when others are trying to deceive me.

Lord, forgive me for putting the distractions around me ahead of you. I am truly sorry that I spend more time on things that don't matter instead of on you. The only things that are guaranteed for eternity is your Holy word and the spirits of those who have chosen Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Continue to provide me with a passion for your word.

Give me wisdom as I deal with my finances today and help me to be a better steward of what you have given me. Help me to remember that the money that I earn is not a reward for my work, but rather a resource to be used to glorify you by the way that I manage it.

I thank you again for my family. Continue to strengthen the generations and for me to be a proper support member of my family. I pray that you be with those that are suffering from fatal illnesses and their families that struggle to understand why. Bring a spirit of peace through your mercy upon them.

Almighty God, thank you for my life and for the unfathomable privilege to praise and worship you. For yours is the glory and the power forever. Amen.

Love One Another

Here's a great verse to end the day with. Hope you've had a good week and things are going well. Stay positive and love one another, just as your heavenly Father loves you.

Titus 3:4-7 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

Today's Prayer 1/9/13

Dear Heavenly Father, all the glory be unto you. Only you are worthy of my praise. You are the architect of the universe and you knew me even before I was born. You are my almighty Lord and I praise you today.

Lord, today give my family and I peace. I pray for us to have a sincere spirit of integrity, honesty and authority over the evil spirits that we will encounter. Lord, let us have grace in dealing with others today and let them see the Holy Spirit which lives inside of us.

Father, do not let me get distracted today with things I cannot control, rather help me be diligent in my work. Let my work today glorify you and please you even if nobody else is watching me. Let my thoughts be pure and my actions be righteous.

Lord, guide me in my path, for I do not know the day in which I will leave this earth to be with you, yet I know that you have placed me here for a reason. Give me a spirit of obedience as I go about my day.

Thank you for your grace and for salvation. Those gifts are just several of the many that you give me everyday. It is humbling to know that you do so much for me.

Thank you for your son Jesus, who died on the cross for me, suffered for my sins and rose out of the grave as the almighty God. I confess that Jesus is the only way to reach you and that He is my savior.

Give me today exactly what I need and thank you for my life. I anxiously await the day in which I am in heaven with you, but until then I will worship you here and do what I can to bring others to know you better. Amen.

Jesus Gives You Rest

Someone needed to hear these words today.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

This is an amazing promise from Jesus. He knows us so well. He knows we worry, stress, grieve and are anxious. He provides us a solution to our problems.

He is amazing.

Today's Prayer 1/8/13

Dear Almighty Father, thank you for another day here on earth. You are the ultimate authority for all things seen and unseen.

God, I boldly bring my request before you today. I will wait expectantly for your guidance and answer. I pray your will over my life.

Give me courage today as I confront my adversaries and challenges. Be my rear-guard as I charge forward. Give me integrity as I deal with those that are against me, let me glorify you.

Thank you for my salvation and for your Son. Through Him I am saved. He is the way and truth. Protect my path today. In Jesus name amen.

Ask God Boldly

What is the biggest need or desire you have? Bring those request boldly to God and lay them at His feet. Then wait expectantly for His answer. Nothing is too big or impossible for the creator of the universe!

Psalm 66:19-20 but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!

God's Love For You

There is so much truth and power in Ephesians 2:4-5. In 2 verses Paul covers God's love, His mercy, His Son, what separated us from Him and His grace which gives us salvation.

Ladies & Gentleman, it humbles me to know just a fraction of how much He loves me and you.

Your life and purpose on this earth is to glorify Him and to spread His word to all the nations. All our problems, challenges, and grievances are nothing more than a blink of the eye. Here today, gone tomorrow. His love endures forever.

He's given you so much and at your fingertips is the creator of the universe. Don't look around you to try and measure your success, look inside your heart. Your treasures are stored in heaven, not in your home, in your garage, in your bank account nor in your relationships. Develop a passion for the pursuit of your creator.

Thank you Jesus!

Ephesians 2:4-5 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

Today's Prayer 1/7/13

Father in Heaven, only you are worthy of my praise. Only you are holy and just. Thank you for your love and your patience for me.

Thank you for today. Lord I give today back to you as I will glorify you with my actions, words and thoughts. Today is a gift, not a guarantee.

Lord give me strength to take advantage of the opportunities you place in front of me. Help me be diligent in my work, honest in my relationships and faithful in your purpose for my life. Father, let the spirit of integrity be my guide today.

Thank you for your son Jesus who gives me eternal salvation. He paid the ransom to give me a way to you. He brought me out of captivity and holds me blameless to you.

Give me today exactly what I need and restore all that has been lost. You are my rock and redeemer. In Jesus name, Amen.

Today's Prayer 1/6/13

Our Heavenly Father, your unconditional love is a true gift. Your mercy and grace on my life is a miracle that I do not deserve. Thank you for these gifts and for my eternal salvation.

Lord today I pray for my family. Protect them in their travels this week and strength the bonds between our generations. Allow me to be a source of support and reason to each member and for our family to become a ...stronger unit under the teachings of Christ. Lord, I cast out any adversity or grudges that exist for they are the devil's foothold in our family. I claim a stronger family unit in 2013. Give me strength to initiate any areas that need to be fixed.

Father, forgive my sinful actions, unwholesome thoughts and lack of obedience. Give me a sharper ear to the commands of the Holy Spirit that lives inside me. Lord, you've given me the shield of Faith as my protection against the devil's fiery arrows. Strengthen my Faith in you today.

Thank you for your precious Son who brought the gift of salvation, wrapped in grace and gave it to me with unconditional love in His heart. Amen.

Claim Your Inheritance!

Did you know that you indeed have an inheritance waiting for you? Everything here on earth will perish, but your inheritance in Heaven will be there for you forever!

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you

- 1 Peter 1:3-4

Dealing with Heartache

Feel like you are the target of a lot of heartache and trouble. Just because you are a believer, you are not excused from hard times. However, check out the promise below from your heavenly Father.

A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; - Psalm 34:19

Getting Dressed in The Full Armor of God

Some Simple Mathematics

Before we get into the message, bear with me while I do some quick math with you. In this example we will assume the reader of this blog is 40 years old. Here's the question: How many time have you woken up and gotten yourself dressed in the morning over the course of 40 years?

Over their life, a 40 year old person would have woken up 14,600 times (40 years x 365 days). Add 10 more days due to leap-year occurring every 4 years, so the grand total is 14,610 times.

Subtraction #1 - For the first 5 years of your life, someone else got you dressed. So we subtract 1,825 days from our total.

Subtraction #2 - Due to being in the hospital or accounting for a lazy weekend, we will subtract another 100 days of your life you did not get up and get yourself dressed.

Calculations
Number of days you woke up over 40 years: 14,610
Subtraction #1: - 1,825
Subtraction #2: - 100

GRAND TOTAL: 12,685 days a 40 year old woke up and got themselves dressed in the morning.

Getting Dress in the Full Armor of God: Ephesians 6:10-18

By using our calculations above, how many days have your dressed yourself in the Full Armor of God in the morning? Probably not that much. First of all, why would we?

As you read the passage from Paul you will see it is clear that the reason is to protect yourself from what the devil wants to do to you that day. "Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes." - Ephesians 6:11

So here is the "ah-ha" moment. You might begin to understand and realize why you sometimes feel that the devil has defeated you most days of your life. Think about it. How often would our Marines win a battle if they failed to get dressed in the morning without their armor or without their weapons? They would never win. Never.

When you fail to take a moment in the morning and rush out the door to start your busy day, you are extremely vulnerable to the schemes of the devil if you have not armed yourself. This, I believe, is why so many people come home feeling defeated or that their day was 'unlucky'. I can assure you that the devil makes preparations ever single morning on how he plans to defeat you.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

So, here's the bad news. We, as Christians, look like yummy little antelopes that lions like to eat. In other words, there is a huge target on your back every morning when you wake up and head out the door.

Here's the good news. God gives us basic training and clear instructions on how we can arm ourselves every morning so you "can take your stand against the devil's schemes."

The First Piece of Armor - The Belt of Truth

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist.. - Ephesians 6:14a

There are a couple of interesting points to understand in the first piece of armor. You would think that swords and shields would have been mentioned first, but rather Paul tells us to place truth around our waist.

Think about this. If you start everyday with a few lies, even innocent lies, then you will likely have to spend the rest of your day covering those lies so you are not caught. How can we allow God to work with us if we are marinating ourselves in lies? Lying is a key personality trait of the devil. He is the Prince of Lies. Look at what John says about the devil and lying.

When he (Satan) lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. - John 8:44.

So, when we lie, we are basically confessing that we are on the devil's side. We are on his team because we are speaking his language. OUCH!

Paul says to place this around your waist. Your waist is where you are most vulnerable. It's where your upper body and lower body come together. If the devil can cripple you at your waist, then the battle is basically won for that day.

Start your day with truth. Don't speak the native language of the devil. Show the world and those around you whose team you are on. If the devil can get you to tell lies to others, then your talking in his language and allow him to control your day.

The Second Piece of Armor - The Breastplate of Righteousness

...with the breastplate of righteousness in place - Ephesians 6:14 b

The main purpose of the breastplate is to protect your vital organs, your heart and your lungs. If your heart stops beating or your lungs stop breathing, your dead. So why would Paul want us to place righteousness over these vital organs? What exactly does it mean to be righteous?

From the dictionary, it mean qualities such as: moral, high-minded, honest, honorable to name a few. Here's a few definition that comes from the book of James and Romans.

"A man is called righteous by the things he does, not just by his faith." - James 2:24

"It is this belief in your heart that makes you righteous, but is's your mouth, when it confesses this, that brings salvation." - Romans 10:10

So, in essence, you are righteous according to your actions and the beliefs that you carry inside of you. When you ask for Jesus to come into your heart, you invited His perfect, sinless spirit to replace yours.

The purpose of a breastplate is to protect your from arrows and impacts to your chest. So, to tie these together, placing the breastplate of righteousness over your chest means your morals, integrity and honorable actions will protect you from the arrows that the devil will shoot at you during the course of the day.

To say it another way, your best defense against the schemes of the devil is a system of personal values containing high morals, integrity and honor.

The Third Piece of Armor - Feet Fitted with Readiness

... and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. - Ephesians 6:15

This piece of armor is my favorite, I love what Paul does with this.

You have to imagine that back in Paul's time, the ability to win a battle was a direct result of how well  prepared an army or a solider was. If you could move fast, you could get into the defenses of the enemy quickly, cause your damage, and get out quickly. You can't do this if you are not ready.

Other translations have the word readiness replaced with the word preparation. Paul is clearly instructing us to be on our toes and prepared to do battle however, you will see that this preparation comes from the gospel of peace. Through the gospel of Christ is how we are to prepare and ready ourselves to battle the evil one.

The Gospel is the amazing story of the miraculous birth of Jesus, His teachings of the new covenant, His crucifixion for our eternal salvation and His resurrection as the living God. Without the Gospel and these important events, we would still be subject to the laws that were given to Moses. The Church which is the bride of Christ is based upon the Gospel. The writings of Paul, Peter and John in the New Testament are the divine explanation of how we are to use and apply the Gospel to our lives.

The Fourth Piece of Armor - The Shield of Faith

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. - Ephesians 6:16

We are all familiar with what a shield does for someone in battle. It is what you hold up when you are under attack. We see here in verse 16 that we are under attack with flaming arrows. The purpose of a flaming arrow is to hit its target then spread damage to the things around the target. This should start to sound familiar. The devil wants to attack you and while doing that he wants those around you to be damaged at the same time. He wants to create confusion for your life as well as for those around you. I believe that the most damage he can create for us is doubt.

If he can cause you to doubt yourself or God's purpose for your life, then he has cause great damage in your life. Maybe this is where you are? If so, then let's see what Paul tells us to use to extinguish these arrows. He instructs you to use faith to defend yourself.

Faith is a very interesting topic and concept. I have hear many sermons on faith and seen it used multiple times throughout the Bible. One scenario was Peter. He walked on water yet when he lost faith and began to doubt, he started to sink. Jesus had mercy on him and reached in and pulled him out, yet Peter missed out on an amazing miracle because he lost faith and began to doubt.

Faith can be describe many ways, yet to me faith can be summed up with this: Faith in God is both patience and trust in Him to allow my purpose to be fulfilled. Satan tries to encourage me to become impatient and to doubt (the flaming arrows), yet if I remain faithful, I am protected from his schemes.

The Fifth & Sixth Piece of Armor - The Helmet of Salvation & Sword of the Spirit

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. - Ephesians 6:17

The last two pieces of the Armor of God are a helmet and a sword. The helmet protects your head, that's pretty obvious, but why does Paul want our heads protected with salvation?

To me salvation is the exemption of all consequences that you deserve. The gift of salvation is wrapped in grace and given to us through our acceptance of Jesus Christ. The knowledge of this concept is why I think Paul wanted salvation to cover our head, because this is where we make our decisions.

If you are protecting your thoughts and are making all your decisions based upon the gift of salvation, then your mind is ready and prepared to understand the schemes of the devil.

The sword of the spirit is the final piece of the armor outfit. This is also the only piece of the armor that you fight with. We saw Jesus fight Satan with the word of God in the desert when He was led there to be tempted by the devil. Three times Satan tempted and tested Jesus and all three times, Jesus used scripture as His response (as His sword). This should be all the example that we need.

However, the sharper your sword the more dangerous and effective weapon it will be. If you only depend upon the Bible verses you learned in Sunday School and what you may hear during a Church service, then your offense will be weak. If you have a weak offense, then you are at the mercy of your defense to stay in the battle and not be defeated.

The scripture is your offense. You must hone and sharpen your sword by reading your Bible and gaining its knowledge. Hidden inside the scripture are dramatic ways in which you can defeat Satan and his schemes. You will learn his weaknesses and you will see how others have defeated him in the past. The knowledge of the Bible will give you the advantage.

In summary, we have to understand a few simple concepts through Paul's passage in Ephesians. First, you must arm yourself everyday to protect yourself from the schemes of the devil. Second, you have to understand what each of the pieces mean. Finally, you have to use the power of prayer to understand how each of the pieces apply to your life. We are all unique and made for a specific purpose. Find our how the Armor of God can be used to help you defend yourself as you fulfill your purpose to glorify Him.

Today's Prayer 1/5/13

Dear Heavenly Father, you are mighty and worthy of my praise. You are holy and just. You are my redeemer and my protector. You are awesome.

Thank you for today. Help me cherish it as a blessing and use today as a chance to glorify you in my actions. Help me not worry about the problems of tomorrow but rather have faith that you will meet all my needs of today.

Lord help those I know who are in... the hospital and are fighting illnesses and diseases. Father you are the ultimate physician and I boldly ask that your healing hand move through their body today. For those that you have chosen to call home to be with you, prepare their spirits and give them peace.

Finally Father, thank you for your son Jesus Christ. I was captured by satan and a captive of sin, yet He loved me enough to be the ransom and pay the ultimate price to allow me a gateway unto you. For that, I am eternally grateful. Amen.

What's With All the Questions?

We are working on a new blog sermon with this title. If you'll notice through the Gospels, Jesus ask a lot of questions. 100's of questions actually. To His disciples, friends, family, strangers and those that opposed Him. Have you ever wondered why?

He was God, so He was omnipotent. He didn't need other humans to enlighten Him with our answers. Questions are usually meant for a student, not a teacher, yet He is the most famous teacher of all times.

When He was 12 years old and His parents found Him in the temple when they thought they had lost Him, He replied with questions. “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “ Didn't you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” - Luke 2:49

We'd like to get your opinion as we put together this sermon. Let us know why you think Jesus asked so many questions.
